About Us
We are United In Our Dedication to Empower Residents
Together, we are committed to building a brighter future for Bulawayo and Zimbabwe at large
BPRA is a Community based and membership driven organisation established in 2007 as a non-partisan platform to promote effective residents and stakeholder interaction and participation in local governance. It is registered as a Trust with the High Court of Zimbabwe. We have structures in all of Bulawayo’s 29 wards. The ward structures are made up of 19 members each, with these ward structures in turn electing a 19 member executive council with a four year term at a Residents Convention, with the mandate to lead interventions and oversee BPRA’s operations. As part of its growth strategy, BPRA is in the process of increasing the membership of the ward structures to 40 per ward to enhance the Ward Committees’ ability to mobilise at the local level, through representation at branch level. A Secretariat of 9 multi-skilled members conduct BPRA’s day to day work. The secretariat has diverse relevant qualifications and experience in program management, information management and dissemination, advocacy, research, monitoring and evaluation, as well as financial management.
